  • 6 Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Tween & Teen Girls!

Sometimes it’s difficult to shop for tweens & teens. I asked around and found some of the most popular choices and dug around to find a few options! There’s always make-up, books, gift cards, candy, a good subscription box to their favorite thing, games, music, etc. But honestly, techie gifts are in demand even for adults. I hope I found a few ideas that will help you with your(Santa’s) shopping. Please comment if you know of a must-have!

    1. Makeup brushes (something any girl would like):

    2. Warm touch screen gloves:

    3. A bluetooth beanie:

    4. Cute socks:

    5. A fun card game to play with friends:

    6. A colorful bluetooth speaker/clock:

Wouldn’t any girl or woman like most of those? I know I would lol.

  • Best Chili Recipe

On a cold, rainy day don’t you want some good comfort food? Something warm, tasty and easy to prepare? I love making chili or vegetable beef stew on days like that.
It’s easy to prepare in the Crockpot or slow cooker but I love to simmer it all day on the stove top in my Dutch oven. I’ll prepare it in the morning around 10 or so and then I can stir (ok, taste!) every so often and adjust the spices if needed(that’s just an excuse to taste test lol).

I love that you can add more spice to suit your personal taste. And garnish, like chopped onions, grated cheese, I even have a friend that likes a dollop of sour cream on hers! The house smells so good and ‘homey’ with a good pot of chili or soup simmering. There’s nothing quite as comforting to me other than cuddling with my kitty under a warm blanket.

This is my recipe, adapted with touches from my mom and my mother-in-law with touches of my own. You can add a few drops of Louisiana Red Hot sauce like my mom, or ketchup(my choice) like my mother-in-law, maybe elbow macaroni like my grandma. I grew up cooking like my mother-in-law and grandma with a pinch of this or a dash of that but the beauty is you can do it to your personal taste and there’s really no messing up! Add crumbled crackers or corn chips, or even make chili dogs. Enjoy! Let me know how you like it.

  • 5 Ways to Get Motivated When You Feel Stuck!

I don’t know about y’all (even writing my Southern side comes through lol), but I find myself more often than not with no motivation to create, cook, clean, and take care of daily responsibilities. This is partly due to depression and anxiety due to complicated grief, more on that later. When I want to get off of my booty and do something to help myself get back in the game of life, I like to turn to my favorite ways to get motivated again. I hope some of these ideas help you guys, too.

    1) Pinterest! My favorite home on the internet.

I love that there are always ideas for anything I need to do and that I can take it with me everywhere I go thanks to my iPhone and iPad Pro. Whether it’s find a great, simple, delicious recipe so that my family thinks I slaved all day cooking, a great color palette to inspire me to create a new printable in Procreate or a rubber-stamped card, I can even find inspiration for writing blog posts!

    2) Youtube! I love that I can do a search for a new product I’d like to see work, and watch tutorials on how to do things, such as drawing in Procreate.

    3) Listen to upbeat music! I love to listen to Taylor Swift, Sheryl Crow, Hanson (don’t laugh, they have grown up and matured but are as great as ever), Matchbox 20, anything that is upbeat to get me moving.

    4) Read an inspirational book, I recently got an advanced reader copy of The Joy of Missing Out by Tonya Dalton.

It is a book seemingly written just for me(or anyone that feels pulled in so many directions that they just want to yell UNCLE). It is pretty much a new way of life guiding you to learn to let go of what you feel you HAVE to do or SHOULD do and focus on what is truly important in life. Such as, taking your child to their sports game and actually paying attention and watching instead of looking at your phone and stressing over what else you feel you should be doing. Seriously, this is a must read!

    5) Get outside, breathe in the fresh air, take a walk, or just sit outside and soak up the sun. I’m lucky enough to live on a small hobby farm and I tell ya, watching the goats, chickens, and ducks, plus all of the wildlife we have around is a true inspiration.

I’d love to hear what helps motivate you, feel free to comment or drop me an email. Check out my Pinterest boards and pick out something you need to get done today, a meal, a craft, etc and let it motivate you!
